Happy Isles

Etching with aquatint. Image size: 9” high x 6” wide. Paper size: 15” high x 11” wide.

Exhibited at Paso Robles Public Library, July and August 2023 (solo exhibit). Juried into Yosemite Renaissance 31, 2016. Venues: Yosemite National Park Museum Gallery, Kings County Art Center in Hanford, and Carnegie Art Center in Turlock.

A study in vivacity. This small Cottonwood is growing in the Merced riverbed at Happy Isles. With its backlit leaves dancing in a light breeze, it positively glowed in front of the shady backdrop. From the pool of water under the large rock, the water cascades down through the rocks to meet the “eastern” main channel.

The lines were laid in as a hard ground etching, followed by multiple aquatint tones.
